Description :

You are deeper than your life shows, and you know it. You are more loving than your relationships allow, more brilliant than your career suggests. In your secret depth of being, you are infinite, creative, boundless and utterly unable to press your full glory into the world. Or so it seems. In Blue Truth, David Deida presents a treasury of skills and insights for uncovering and offering your true heart of purpose, passion, and unquenchable love. In Part One, Deida shows you how to open as the entirety of the moment, feeling as deep inside and as far outside as you can, for as long as now opens. In Part Two, he reveals how to walk this path in the wilderness of intimate relationship, illuminating the art and play of sexual gifting, including how to expertly navigate the tangle of anger, jealousy, fear, lust, and much, much more. “Knowing the truth is fairly useless; feeling it is profound; living it makes all the difference,” teaches David Deida. With Blue Truth, you have an unprecedented guide for living your own deep truth, and awakening “as the bare openness you are, in the free offering of love to all.” Blue Truth was named by Spirituality & Health Magazine (June 2006 issue) as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2005, in the Personal Growth category. Praise “Blue Truth is a brilliant book, absolutely gorgeous. Ancient wisdom on sacred sexuality, freed of historical and cultural trappings, glows from these pages in exhilarating, luminous prose. Deida brilliantly lays bare the hidden psychology of feminine and masculine and offers clear instructions for tapping into our deepest core and achieving true harmony through sexual intimacy. I feel that Deida has reached a new level of poetic genius in his writing, and his understanding of feminine psychology astounds me. I am just knocked out by this book.” —Miranda Shaw, PhD, author of Passionate Enlightenment: Women in Tantric Buddhism “David Deida is in the dynamic living oral tradition of maverick spiritual teachers who, like free-jazz musicians, can riff directly on Reality, outside of established forms. Mark my words: in a future that I hope is not too far off, David Deida’s original Western Dharma will be widely known as one of the most sublime and accessible expressions of the essence of spiritual practice that is freely offered today.” —Lama Surya Das, bestselling author of Awakening the Buddha Within “The openness, the love! What lively new language David Deida finds for the unsayable.” —Coleman Barks, author of The Essential Rumi

Description :

In nineteenth-century America, Gillian Silverman contends, reading—and particularly book reading—precipitated intense fantasies of communion. In handling a book, the reader imagined touching and being touched by the people affiliated with that book's narrative world—an author, a character, a fellow reader. This experience often led to a sense of consubstantiality, a fantasy that the reader, the material book, and the imagined other were momentarily merged. Such a fantasy challenges psychological conceptions of discrete subjectivity along with the very notion of corporeal integrity—the idea that we are detached, skin-bound, and autonomously functioning entities. It forces us to envision readers not as liberal subjects, pursuing reading as a means toward privacy, interiority, and individuation, but rather as communal beings inseparable from objects in our psychic and phenomenal world. While theorists have long emphasized the way reading can promote a sense of abstract belonging, Bodies and Books emphasizes the intense somatic bonds that nineteenth-century subjects experienced while reading. Silverman bridges the gap between the cognitive and material effects of reading, arguing that the two worked in tandem, enabling readers to feel deep communion with objects (both human and nonhuman) in the external world. Drawing on the letters and diaries of nineteenth-century readers along with literary works by Herman Melville, Frederick Douglass, Susan Warner, and others, Silverman explores the book as a technology of intimacy and ponders what nineteenth-century readers might be able to teach us two centuries later.

Explore the Other Side of Enlightenment Does enlightenment have a dark side? It does, explains David Deida, but instead of closing to what seems unloving, we can learn to open as what we would rather avoid. In Instant Enlightenment, this maverick author and teacher offers a "rude awakening" through a collection of daring exercises and practices intended to provoke, challenge, and immediately reveal the ever-present "love that lives all things." Each pithy chapter encourages readers to blast the light of consciousness on the taboos we hide in shadow, from our ideas about sex and money to emotions and spirituality. Instant Enlightenment will surprise and possibly offend you—but it will lead you "fast and suddenly" to the realization of the sacred entirety of your experience. "Dive straight into this book. Open to any page and read for two minutes, and you'll see that you are instant enlightenment."—Ken Wilber, author of A Brief History of Everything

Description :

A smart, sexy guide to embracing the repressed, tabooed, and often unwanted aspects of ourselves so we can discover our inner power and finally live the life we deserve. “We always get exactly what we want; but often, though we may not be aware of it, what we most want is dark—very dark.” Each of us has a dual nature: we are light (conscious) and dark (unconscious). The dark side of our personality—the “other,” the shadow side—is made up of what we think is our primitive, primal, negative impulses—our “existential kink.” Our existential kink also drives the dark or negative repeating patterns in our life: always choosing the abusive partner or boss, settling for less, thinking that we’re undeserving, not worthy. But it also is the source of our greatest power. In Existential Kink, Carolyn Elliott, PhD, offers a truth-telling guide for bringing our shadow into the light. Inviting us to make conscious the unconscious, Elliott asks us to own the subconscious pleasure we get from the stuck, painful patterns of our existence. Existential Kink provides practical advice and meditations so we truly see our shadow side’s “guilty pleasures,” love and accept them, and integrate them into our whole being. By doing so, Elliott shows, we bring to life the raw, hot, glorious power we all have to get what we really want in our lives.

Description :

This volume provides a detailed examination of Paul's use of the phrase 'Christ in You' and highlights its importance for better understanding Paul's eschatological thought. Having previously received relatively little scholarly attention, the expression 'Christ in You' has often been viewed as synonymous with the phrase 'in Christ.' Barcley recognizes a distinction and argues that Paul uses 'Christ in You' specifically to emphasize the proper functioning of faith in life. 'Christ in You' indicates that believers have undergone a spiritual transformation, fully incorporating Christ into their lives. This study will be of value to religious scholars, pastors, and anyone with an interest in New Testament thought.

Communion with God, or in full, "Of communion with God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost each person distinctly, in love, grace, and consolation; or, the saints' fellowship with the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost unfolded," is John Owen's finest devotional treatise. This work expounds "the most glorious truth that believers may have distinct communion with the three persons Father, Son, and Spirit," and being addressed to the "Christian reader" is simpler than much of Owen's theology.
