Twenty years after vanishing from Darcy Turner's life, Jack Beauloup is back to claim the heart of the human woman he tried to leave behind. ONCE UPON A TIME... the most beautiful boy in the world kissed me. I've never been able to forget. Perhaps it was his jet-black hair, or the changing copper-color of his eyes, the intense way he looked at me... or the fact that he awakened my passion for the first time, at once otherworldly yet heartbreakingly real. But after that kiss, I never saw him again. His name was Jack Beauloup. Jack, my " Beautiful Wolf." Twenty years passed. He has returned. For me.

A philosopher takes a second look at sayings, proverbs, and bits of homespun wisdom: “Every society needs its guardian of good sense: Baggini is ours.” —The Financial Times These short, stimulating, and entertaining capsules of philosophy delve into the familiar words that live in our consciousness yet are rarely examined. Should you really do as the Romans do when in Rome and practice what you preach? Is the grass always in fact greener on the other side of the fence, and is there ever smoke without fire? Is beauty always in the eye of the beholder and is it actually better to be safe than sorry? From the popular author of The Pig That Wants to Be Eaten, cofounder of The Philosophers’ Magazine, and academic director of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, this is a witty, deeply thought-provoking reminder that we should never stop asking questions.

Author : Rudyard Kipling

Release : 2017-12-06

Category : Juvenile Fiction
ISBN 13 : 8027232716
Description :

"The Jungle Book" is a collection of animal stories. The tales in the book are fables, using animals in an anthropomorphic manner to give moral lessons. The verses of The Law of the Jungle, for example, lay down rules for the safety of individuals, families and communities. Kipling put in them nearly everything he knew or "heard or dreamed about the Indian jungle." The best-known of them are the three stories revolving around the adventures of an abandoned "man cub" Mowgli who is raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. The most famous of the other four stories are probably "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi", the story of a heroic mongoose, and "Toomai of the Elephants", the tale of a young elephant-handler. As with much of Kipling's work, each of the stories is preceded by a piece of verse, and succeeded by another. "The Second Jungle Book" is a sequel which features five stories about Mowgli and three unrelated stories, all but one set in India, most of which Kipling wrote while living in Vermont. Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist. He wrote tales and poems of British soldiers in India and stories for children. He is regarded as a major innovator in the art of the short story; his children's books are classics of children's literature; and one critic described his work as exhibiting "a versatile and luminous narrative gift".
