Description :

Swami Vivekananda revealed to the world the true foundations of India's unity as a nation. He taught how a nation with such a vast diversity can be bound together by a feeling of humanity and brother-hood. Vivekananda emphasized the points of drawbacks of western culture and the contribution of India to overcome those. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose once said: “Swamiji harmonized the East and the West, religion and science, past and present. And that is why he is great. Our countrymen have gained unprecedented self-respect, self-reliance and self-assertion from his teachings.” Vivekananda was successful in constructing a virtual bridge between the culture of East and the West. He interpreted the Hindu scriptures, philosophy and the way of life to the Western people. He made them realize that in spite of poverty and backwardness, India had a great contribution to make to world culture. He played a key role in ending India's cultural isolation from the rest of the world.

Description :

Jnana-yoga or The Path of Knowledge is one of the four central paths to knowledge of man and the world and realization of the ultimate reality as obtained in the ancient religious and philosophical traditions of India. It is the way of overcoming doubt through the exercise and development of the buddhi (the discriminative intellect). The roots of this tradition are traced to the glorious Upanisads; and the earliest jnana-yogis are none other than the Upanisadic rsis themselves. In this book, the author presents the fundamental insights of jnana-yoga based upon the teachings of two of the most prominent jnana-yogis __ Sankara, the Hindu philosopher, poet and mystic and Nagarjuna, the Buddhist philosopher and patriarch.A result of Prof. Puligandlas theoretical and experimental study of their teachings for over three decades, the book systematically discusses in clear and unambiguous terms three central principles of jnana-yoga, namely, the principle of Superimposition; the principle of Dependent Origination; and the principle of Two Truths. The broad-based approach of this work is evident in many ways as, for instance, in its use of the principles of modern science to illustrate the ideas of jnana-yoga and discussion of concepts of the western philosophical tradition as well The book would immensely aid scholars of religious-philosophical traditions as well as students studying Indian traditional systems of thought.

“Karma Yoga” (The Yoga of action) is an English book of Swami Vivekananda, the book was first published in February 1896 from New York. Swami Vivekananda delivered a number of lectures in his rented rooms at 228 W 39th Street in New York City from December in 1895 and January, 1896. In 1895-1895, friends and supporters of Swami Vivekananda hired a professional stenographer Joseph Josiah Goodwin (who later became a follower of Vivekananda). Goodwin recorded some of the lectures of Vivekananda, and those lectures were published as the book Karma Yoga. It is said in the practice of Vedanta that we have a right to work, but don't have a right to the results of our actions. We have to work as hard as we can, give the work our best quality effort, then step back and let the results take care of themselves. Or in the practice of yoga, offer the results to God.Work purifies the soul. This concept is a bit different than many of us have been taught in the West, but the book offers an interesting approach that can save us from a lot of misery and bring us closer to God. In fact, you don't even need to believe in God to practice this yoga.

Description :

Jnana Yoga is the yoga of knowledge-not knowledge in the intellectual sense-but the knowledge of Brahman and Atman and the realization of their unity. Where the devotee of God follows the promptings of the heart, the jnani uses the powers of the mind to discriminate between the real and the unreal, the permanent and the transitory. Jnanis, followers of nondualistic or advaita Vedanta, can also be called monists for they affirm the sole reality of Brahman. Of course, all followers of Vedanta are monists: all Vedantins affirm the sole reality of Brahman. The distinction here is in spiritual practice: while all Vedantins are philosophically monistic, in practice those who are devotees of God prefer to think of God as distinct from themselves in order to enjoy the sweetness of a relationship. Jnanis, by contrast, know that all duality is ignorance. There is no need to look outside ourselves for divinity: we ourselves already are divine. What is it that prevents us from knowing our real nature and the nature of the world around us? The veil of maya. Jnana Yoga is the process of directly rending that veil, tearing it through a two-pronged approach.

Jnana Yoga shows the seeker that everything in the body, personality, thoughts, memories, and experiences has form and is changeable and, thus, is neither essential nor eternal. Its contemplative practice identifies the witnessing consciousness within--all that remains when the ephemeral is eliminated--as the real Self, the one and only unchanging eternal Being.

Description :

From ancient times, people of India have practiced spiritual disciplines designed to clear the mind and support a state of serene, detached awareness. The practices for developing this desired state of balance, purity, wisdom, and peacefulness of mind are known collectively as "yoga." "Yoga" means "yoke" or "union" - referring to union with the true Self, the goal described in the Upanishads. The sages distinguished four basic types of people and developed practices that are particularly suitable for each type, in order that each man can attain the desired union with the Self. For rational people, there is the path of Knowledge. For meditative people, there is the path of Self-Knowledge. For naturally active people, there is the path of Selfless Action. For emotional people, there is the Path of Devotion. Editor's Note: In order to be more enjoyable during reading, this book is in 6" x 9" format. In the same spirit, the paper is cream-colored, which causes less fatigue to the eyes than white paper. All our publications are carefully handled both in terms of typography and design.

Description :

What is Jnana Yoga? Jnana Yoga is spiritual enlightenment from pure knowledge. This path of wisdom or Advaita Vedanta leads to the reality of the One True Self. This Jnana Yoga spiritual book inspired by Yogi Ramacharaka teaches that learning yoga is about more than poses and exercise but meant to lead the genuine truth-seeker to Spiritual Awakening For complete health and fitness, Jnana Yoga encompasses the eight limbs of yoga which includes asanas, concentration, meditation and Samadhi Your sadhana practiced religiously leads one to become a master over ego and ignorance. Thus, the true practice of yoga is the union of soul and spirit and this should be the first question on the spiritual path: "How May I Come To Know God"? God may go by many names in many religions. But God is not a "man" up in the sky Essentially, all religions state that God is Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent. So it doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to conclude that if God is truly everywhere and everyplace then He must accordingly be within you Intellectually, we may accept this fact but many of us have no idea how to reach the God that may be within us. This is a question that was first positioned ages ago and there are those that have answered the question for themselves and then provided a roadmap for others to find the same. Hence, came the Birth of Yoga. Yoga is the union of soul and Spirit. It is the means to this union and the state of Union. Over the ages have evolved many types and branches of yoga that may be more suited for the individual and yet they are all branches of the same Tree Jnana Yoga is known as the wisdom path to Self-Realization. Jnana or Gnana is a Sanskrit word and means "knowledge." This is a knowledge of the body, the mind and the Spirit. The ultimate knowledge of course is the knowledge of Self But this true knowledge is not just an intellect of the mind, it derives from a study of scripture and teachings but more profoundly as a result of an inner intuitive knowledge derived through meditational practice experienced in yoga. Through continued practice it will lead one to liberation from attachment to the physical body. It is a proven system for realizing one's spiritual destiny. Sincere and regular effort is required of any yoga path but they all lead to true happiness, inner peace and the dynamic joy of the soul. ""Many rivers... One Ocean; many branches... One Tree; many paths... One Destination; many stories... One Truth "" 1 S.O.U.L. Publishing"

Description :

Jnana is Sanskrit for "knowledge or wisdom" and Jnana Yoga is the path of attaining knowledge of the true nature of reality through the practice of meditation, self-inquiry, and contemplation. Jnana Yoga can be defined as the "awareness of absolute consciousness," and is a comprehensive practice of self-study (Svadhyaya). In Jnana yoga, the mind is used to inquire into its own nature and to transcend the mind's identification with its thoughts and ego. The fundamental goal of Jnana yoga is to become liberated from the illusionary world of maya (self-limiting thoughts and perceptions) and to achieve the union of the inner Self (Atman) with the oneness of all life (Brahman). This is achieved by steadfastly practicing the mental techniques of self-questioning, reflection and conscious illumination that are defined in the Four Pillars of Knowledge. Jnana Yoga utilizes a one-pointed meditation on a single question of self-inquiry to remove the veils of illusion created by your concepts, world views, and perceptions. This practice allows you to realize the temporary and illusionary nature of maya and to see the oneness of all things.

In the section entitled Chakra Breathing Techniques, the author starts with simple breathing methods that form the foundation for learning to perceive the subtle energy of the chakras. Building on this the book goes into detail about how pranayama connects with the chakras, and how the breath can be used to circulate energy through the whole chakra system. To release and heal the emotional and mental aspects of the chakras, so that spiritual realization may occur, the author outlines a specific method of self-inquiry that allows for profound spiritual insight. Through direct realization of the psychic aspects of the chakras it is possible to abide in the True Self, and this realization of the Higher Self is the end goal of authentic chakra based yoga practices.
