Description :

Young children ask questions about sex, sexuality, conception, and birth that can be embarrassing or uncomfortable for parents. With her characteristic good sense and cool head, author Deborah Roffman will put even the most awkward parents at ease, giving them the skills to talk confidently with young children about these important but delicate issues. In this wonderfully reassuring book, readers will learn that the key to talking with children about sex is knowing that their questions fall into three easily recognizable categories. At age three or four, kids are curious about geography ("Where was I before I was here?"), and at four or five, about delivery ("Exactly how did I get out of there?"). Finally, the six year old's classic stumper--"But how'd I get in there in the first place?"--is about cause and effect, not about imminent sexual activity! With the emotional and developmental underpinnings of a child's curiosity understood, parents will find their tongues; with Deborah Roffman's wise, warm and practical advice, they will be well prepared for the inevitable flow of questions in the years to come.

**To chat with the author, ask your Alexa device to "open the voice computing book."** The next great technological disruption is coming The titans of Silicon Valley are racing to build the last, best computer that the world will ever need. They know that whoever successfully creates it will revolutionize our relationship with technology—and make billions of dollars in the process. They call it conversational AI. Computers that can speak and think like humans may seem like the stuff of science fiction, but they are rapidly moving toward reality. In Talk to Me, veteran tech journalist James Vlahos meets the researchers at Amazon, Google, and Apple who are leading the way. He explores how voice tech will transform every sector of society: handing untold new powers to businesses, overturning traditional notions of privacy, upending how we access information, and fundamentally altering the way we understand human consciousness. And he even tries to understand the significance of the voice-computing revolution first-hand — by building a chatbot version of his terminally ill father. Vlahos’s research leads him to one fundamental question: What happens when our computers become as articulate, compassionate, and creative as we are?

THE LEMON DAY was inspired to me from my three-year-old, Kelly, as to how she pronounced "Lemon-aid" . I made a list of those slightly different ways that she pronounced things and worked a rhyming story around it. Basically, there is a grumpy, not too kind, character who is in a sense a bully. He gets put in his place by the other, kind, characters in the story and has a change of heart. It is a children's story, but I find it to send a positive message to all ages, with the main point being "it's OK to be different, choosing acceptance and above all to always keep the imagination alive!" I dedicated it to my Mother, SuzanneTHE LEMON DAY is a cute, fun and wonderful book.

As though an oracle had come to me, so also was the urge to write my story. I became aware that the nature of writing involved shall require some research into pre-historic African societies, with a view to relate to the towns and villages of Igboland and the Niger-Delta where my story took its root, even prior to my existence. Yet, the timing of this desire to write was such that peace seemed to have eluded me; following some set-backs which I described in the third part of my trilogy and parts of the post-script that followed. Whilst taking stock of my past and present condition in relation to my surroundings, the investigator soon became the investigated, prompting me to skip through pertinent aspects, episodes and narratives, in my quest to publish my first book seven years prior. In particular, the Afro-centric narratives contained in this story of our common humanity had to be told in a way that the author can be detached from the story, despite being the primary subject of investigation. As such, it became necessary to delve into some historical anecdotes, whilst also bringing to life the experience of living in Abayi, Aba; on a street called Shalom Road.
