Description :

The objectives of this project were (1) to measure consumer satisfaction with tap water quality, (2) to investigate demographic trends in consumer satisfaction and consumption of tap water alternatives, (3) to identify the factors that cause consumers to purchase and use bottled water and POU/POEs, and (4) to develop a list of recommendations for water utilities that can improve consumer satisfaction and help bridge gaps between perception and reality. The following are highlights from the research project: Consumption rate of tap water alternatives is highly dependent on geographic location (20 per cent usage rate in the Midwest vs. 80 per cent on the West Coast). Tap water drinkers are more satisfied (20 per cent on average) than tap water alternative drinkers concerning various aspects of tap water (e.g., overall quality, taste, appearance, smell, safety, healthiness). Tap water quality had limited influence on consumer satisfaction. The highest level of correlation (between satisfaction and water quality) was found to have an R2 - value of 34 per cent-64 per cent for hardness and total dissolved solids. Safety was the primary motivator for filtered water drinkers.Bottled water drinkers were divided between taste, safety, and healthiness. Water utilities' perception of the issue revealed that utility managers tend to overestimate consumer satisfaction and underestimate the level of importance consumers place on tap water safety. For three basic areas of consumer satisfaction (tap water quality, overall customer service, and complaint resolution), managers overestimated satisfaction by 14 per cent to 20 per cent. In regards to motivators behind the use of tap water alternatives, managers cited taste as the primary motivator for bottled and filtered water drinkers. One area where managers did understand consumer patterns was in regards to consumer confidence reports (CCR). Only about 1/3 of the consumers remembered receiving a CCR; likewise, only 3 of the 12 market area managers (25 per cent) believed their consumers would remember receiving one. Discover a profound spiritual practice leading to success in the business of life. The Tap is about accepting the inherent responsibility and gaining the confidence in your ability to handle more, whether it's more wealth, health, happiness, or relationships. This book is for those who don't feel they're succeeding at the level they desire in the business we're all in: the business of life. Whether you're seeking greater financial rewards or some other kind of uplift, this book reveals there's one solution: Learning to feel The Tap and then acting on it. It primes you to start thinking that the rewards of success aren't meant for you alone, regardless of whether those rewards are already in hand or coming soon. But the rewards will come with astonishing speed and size to those who act on the greater responsibility that comes with greater blessings. Inspired by the biblical passage, 'from those to whom much is entrusted, much will be expected,' The Tap promises readers that as they attune themselves to this enduring truth, they'll feel God's tap and experience breakthroughs beyond comprehension. In The Tap, renowned real-estate "rock czar" Frank McKinney reveals the most important spiritual principle and practice of his astronomical success. He reveals how God has tapped him (and taps everyone) many times in life, answering prayers and presenting life-changing opportunities. Why, then, haven't you always recognized your own "Tap Moments"? The author explains this common oversight and leads you to find how you, too, have been blessed with the special ability to succeed at some level, yet the rewards of your success aren't meant for you alone. The author isn't a preacher or man of the cloth; he's a businessman who's discovered that faithful stewardship is a prerequisite to receiving greater resources. This inspiring yet practical guide is for those who want to succeed at a higher level with the business we're all in: the business of life. In The Tap, McKinney shows how you, too, can enrich your life beyond what you might ever have imagined for yourself--if you learn how to listen and respond to The Tap. The Tap: Feel it, follow it, and find your highest calling. Sensitize yourself to God's call and be prepared for the times when you're most likely to experience Tap Moments. Have confidence to handle the rapid rate of ascent that usually accompanies The Tap. Realize why you can't really understand or apply such popular ideas as the law of attraction and 'the secret' until you've been tapped. Combine compassionate capitalism and spiritual stewardship for progressive business models and practices.

In February 2004, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was asked to assess the effects of elevated lead levels in tap water on Washington, D.C., residents. In April 2004, CDC published the results. However, an inaccurate statement and incomplete descriptions of the limitations of the analyses resulted in confusion about CDC's intended message. With young children gaining access to a dizzying array of games, videos and other digital media, will they ever learn to read? The answer is yes – if we ensure that the media at children's fingertips is harnessed to promote the skills and knowledge that enable reading, instead of undermining them. Tap, Click, Read helps educators and parents become more successful at supporting young children's early literacy skills in the "digital wild west." With compelling text, videos, and interactive graphics, the book answers such questions as: In what ways could new technologies promote the adult-child interactions that help children develop language and literacy skills that help them become strong readers? Who are the pioneers in this field? What will it take to create a future in which parents and teachers become adept at using media to build a foundation for children's reading? Beyond traditional literacy, what are the digital competencies that today's young children will need to master in an increasingly complex and interconnected world? The authors provide findings from an ongoing examination of the app marketplace that identifies bright spots and pitfalls--a first-of-its-kind analysis, providing statistics on what kind of reading and other early learning apps are on offer in the free-for-all of the Apple app store and Google Play marketplaces. They also provide toolkits (such as e-media resource lists and community audit worksheets) for schools and community organizations to use as they foster literacy-focused relationships with parents and build high-tech learning spaces for tomorrow's readers. Rather than telling parents and teachers to push technology to the margins, Tap, Click, Read shows them how to put technology to work in serving children's needs and helping to address the crippling problem of low reading skills across the country.
