Excerpt from The Millennial Harbinger Abridged, Vol. 1 Time, the great innovator, brings to pass everything. Gradual but unceasing is its march. It never slumbers. It never pauses. It gives maturity to everything. When we are taught to read the volume of nature, or rather the great library of God, and have made some proficiency in the volume of Revelation, we discover that there is an admirable analogy between the volumes of Creation and Redemption. As is the progress of natural, so has been the progress of supernatural light. First, there are the glimmerings of dawn - then the twilight - then the risen day, and then the radiance of noon. So is not only the faith of the just, which brightens more and more until the perfect day; but also such are the developments of the light of life. Description :

Excerpt from The Writings of Alexander Campbell: Selections Chiefly From the Millennial Harbinger Another book has been floated upon the tide of Time; its value must be determined alone by an examination of its contents. The thoughts contained within its pages have not proceeded from our brain, but from that of one of the greatest thinkers of this or any other age. The work is a compilation from the writings of Alexander Campbell, chiefly from the Millennial Harbinger, embracing most of the theological questions, which have divided the religious world into sects and factions. A few articles may appear which were written by others, but only such as had his unqualified endorsement. Since the light of the gospel of Christ was obscured, we have had many reformers - Luther, Knox, Calvin, Wesley, and others. Each one contributed something to the cause of truth, but none succeeded in freeing themselves fully from the dogmas and superstitions of the dark ages. We cherish the name of every man who has contributed his part to the amelioration and elevation of the human race. We contemplate with admiration the men who have added one stone to the great temple of science. We view with astonishment the genius of an Alexander, a Bonaparte, the Caesars, and other great chieftains who have crimsoned the world with blood, only to gratify their lust for power and ambition for fame. How much more, then, should we venerate and honor the man whose whole life has been dedicated and devoted to the good of man and the salvation of souls. In prehistoric times there lay buried in the tombs and debris of past ages, the history of generations gone by, written upon their monuments in unknown characters.
