Description :

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . . Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny? Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

""In places that know more about heaven and hell than we do, you have a reputation, Gabrielle. To them you are known as the devil's consort."" When a body shows up near Peel Academy, all signs indicate the killer is a vampire. Ravaged throat, body drained of blood. At least that's all it appears to be when the Politia, the supernatural police force, assigns Gabrielle to the case. Now it's Gabrielle's job to figure out who did it. But after a second body turns up with the same lethal wounds, it's clear that a serial killer is stalking the island. The murders have compromised the truce between the Politia and vampires, and as long as the killer roams free, it is in danger of dissolving. If that happens, no vampire is safe from persecution, not even Gabrielle. Now Gabrielle must team up with Andre, her soulmate and the one person she's tried to stay away from, to investigate the murders before the truce dissolves. And keeping her distance is proving to be impossible. But Gabrielle has a bigger problem. The world of the dead know about her, and their whispers hint that something is coming for her. And it's coming soon.

Description :

Throughout the 17 and 1800s, in the primitive region known as the New Mexico Territories, there were several small towns that were, at one time, oasis' in the desert for the courageous settlers who tamed that rough and desolated land. Somehow one of these settlements, which was located on the route between Mexico City and Santa Fe, mysteriously disappeared. The inhabitants were never found. Over the years the drifting desert sand covered the area where the town so proudly stood. Padres from Mexico City who made the long journey to establish small missions in and around the area known as Santa Fe often camped near this town. There have been many strange stories that have been passed down, orally, from generation to generation about the padres and their harsh and rough excursions through the wasteland of what is now New Medico, and the strange disappearance of the town. Due to the sparse population of uneducated Indians, Mexicans, and the daring settlers that inhabited the area there were very few written record. Only one such transcript has been uncovered. The record was written in the form of a journal and was recently located in Mexico City. It tells of a strange story which happened to one of the Padres who made the trip from Mexico City to Santa Fe, and what could have happened to this town that was called 'Lewsor'.

Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre retold against the backdrop of San Francisco's most fabulous—and dangerous—elites. Janie feels hopelessly out of place in their world of Napa weekends, fancy cotillions, and chauffeurs. The only person she can relate to is Daniel, a fellow surfer. Meeting him makes Janie feel like things might be looking up. Still, something isn’t right in the Rochester mansion. There are noises—screams—coming from the attic that everyone else claims they can’t hear. Then John, the black sheep of the family, returns after getting kicked out of yet another boarding school. Soon Janie finds herself torn between devil-may-care John and fiercely loyal Daniel. Just when she thinks her life can’t get any more complicated, she learns the truth about why the Rochesters took her in. They want something from Janie, and she’s about to see just how far they’ll go to get it.

Description :

Shortlisted for the 2018 Man Booker International Prize From Booker Prize-winner and literary phenomenon Han Kang, a lyrical and disquieting exploration of personal grief, written through the prism of the color white While on a writer's residency, a nameless narrator wanders the twin white worlds of the blank page and snowy Warsaw. THE WHITE BOOK becomes a meditation on the color white, as well as a fictional journey inspired by an older sister who died in her mother's arms, a few hours old. The narrator grapples with the tragedy that has haunted her family, an event she colors in stark white--breast milk, swaddling bands, the baby's rice cake-colored skin--and, from here, visits all that glows in her memory: from a white dog to sugar cubes. As the writer reckons with the enormity of her sister's death, Han Kang's trademark frank and chilling prose is softened by retrospection, introspection, and a deep sense of resilience and love. THE WHITE BOOK--ultimately a letter from Kang to her sister--offers powerful philosophy and personal psychology on the tenacity and fragility of the human spirit, and our attempts to graft new life from the ashes of destruction.
