**NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER** Her story. His story. The love story of Joey and Rory. By inviting so many into the final months of Joey’s life as she battled cancer, Joey and Rory Feek captured hearts around the world with how they handled the diagnosis; the inspiring, simple way they chose to live; and how they loved each other every step of the way. But there is far more to the story. “My life is very ordinary,” says Rory. “On the surface, it is not very special. If you looked at it, day to day, it wouldn’t seem like much. But when you look at it in a bigger context—as part of a larger story—you start to see the magic that is on the pages of the book that is my life. And the more you look, the more you see. Or, at least, I do.” In this vulnerable book, he takes us for the first time into his own challenging life story and what it was like growing up in rural America with little money and even less family stability. This is the story of a man searching for meaning and security in a world that offered neither. And it’s the story of a man who finally gives it all to a power higher than himself and soon meets a young woman who will change his heart forever. In This Life I Live, Rory Feek helps us not only to connect more fully to his and Joey’s story but also to our own journeys. He shows what can happen when we are fully open in life’s key moments, whether when meeting our life companion or tackling an unexpected tragedy. He also gives never-before-revealed details on their life together and what he calls “the long goodbye,” the blessing of being able to know that life is going to end and taking advantage of it. Rory shows how we are all actually there already and how we can learn to live that way every day. A gifted man from nowhere and everywhere in search of something to believe in. A young woman from the Midwest with an angelic voice and deep roots that just needed a place to be planted. This is their story. Two hearts that found each other and touched millions of other hearts along the way.

Description :

The curiosity of finding my light sparkled many years ago! I started documenting my life around 1999, when it took a turning point. My aim was to gather as much information about the spiritual journey I found myself encountering. Through my frustration and confusion, I decided to find inner system adjustments (ISA) in a very easy and clear way on how to heal yourself and create alignment with the abundance of the universe in the realm of divinity. The following are reasons to do it: To balance your chakras, release your unconsciously programmed karma, and reprogram your mind To revitalize and detoxify your body, to release stale emotional states in order to revive and recommit to living from your heart thats full of love and joy, and to reconstruct your entire life with effective tips, tools, and techniques To live in a healthy body that can provide you with a stable, wealthy, happy, and harmonious soul that understands its true purpose To guide you to being a better human being in a spiritual body here on this earth It will not be what material worth you gain in this lifetime that matters. Rather, it is how much you loved with your heart and soul! To love strongly is to have a strong shelter from negativity and to live strongly! This is the book of a woman who went through a dark chapter of her life, when nobody else could help her. She turned to the light and energy within herself, which actually is the light and energy that is the truth of us all (Helga Scheiflinger). Devika has composed a step-by-step guide to becoming a positive and prosperous being. Her life journey has truly brought about this inspirational and insightful book (Nirmala).

Burning ambition, brutal setbacks, meteoric rises, and unbelievable coincidences. Teetering on the edge of the abyss, risking everything, and reaching multi-national stardom. Not to mention life choices that could have sent the whole story in an entirely different direction. The life of Samu Haber – front man of Finnish rock band Sunrise Avenue ("Hollywood Hills", "Fairytale Gone Bad") and celebrity judge on The Voice of Germany – has been one stupendous roller-coaster ride. His passion for music has been the constant that kept him sane throughout. Written in a brisk, engaging – and characteristically charming – style, this exclusive autobiography is Samu's true story: from shady encounters, narrow escapes, and a barrage of record-company rejections to muscling his own way into pan-European music stardom. With vivid recall and total candour, Samu charts his determined path to success – but also the price he and loved ones paid along the way: burnout, broken relationships, artistic crises, and one close call after another. At turns tender, hilarious, and incredible, this thrilling full-disclosure read is a must for all Sunrise Avenue fans and for anyone that dreams of something other than the ordinary.

Description :

Following a decade of U.S. bombing campaigns that obliterated northern Vietnam, East Germany helped Vietnam rebuild in an act of socialist solidarity. In Building Socialism Christina Schwenkel examines the utopian visions of an expert group of Vietnamese and East German urban planners who sought to transform the devastated industrial town of Vinh into a model socialist city. Drawing on archival and ethnographic research in Vietnam and Germany with architects, engineers, construction workers, and tenants in Vinh’s mass housing complex, Schwenkel explores the material and affective dimensions of urban possibility and the quick fall of Vinh’s new built environment into unplanned obsolescence. She analyzes the tensions between aspirational infrastructure and postwar uncertainty to show how design models and practices that circulated between the socialist North and the decolonizing South underwent significant modification to accommodate alternative cultural logics and ideas about urban futurity. By documenting the building of Vietnam’s first planned city and its aftermath of decay and repurposing, Schwenkel argues that underlying the ambivalent and often unpredictable responses to modernist architectural forms were anxieties about modernity and the future of socialism itself.

Description :

We know that violence breeds violence. We need look no further than the wars in the western Balkans, the genocide in Rwanda, or the ongoing crisis in Israel and Palestine. But we don’t know how to deal with the messy moral and political quandaries that result when victims become perpetrators. When the line between guilt and innocence wavers and we are confronted by the suffering of the victim who turns to violence, judgment may give way to moral relativism or liberal tolerance, compassion to a pity that denies culpability. This is the point of departure in The Violence of Victimhood and the impetus for its call for renewed considerations of responsibility, judgment, compassion, and nonviolent politics. To address her provocative questions, Diane Enns draws on an unusually wide-ranging cast of characters from the fields of feminism, philosophy, peacebuilding, political theory, and psychoanalysis. In the process, she makes an original contribution to each, enriching discussions that are otherwise constricted by disciplinary boundaries and an arid distinction between theory and practice.

Recovers the lost messages of Mark, Matthew, Luke-Acts, and John for people today The words of the gospels were meant to be heard. While we can still appreciate the construction and grasp some understanding when we read, we miss much of the message because we’re working in the wrong medium. In Written to Be Heard Paul Borgman and Kelly James Clark offer the keys to recovering the radical, relevant messages of each gospel as they were first heard. The shaping of the gospels for oral performances, which would have been obvious to ancient (mostly preliterate) listeners, is lost on even the best contemporary reader. With careful analysis of the gospel writers’ particular voices within their own ancient literary context, Borgman and Clark equip readers to read as if hearing, focusing on overlapping patterns of hearing cues that shape each text and embed theological perspective.
